On 04/30/22, my friend Susan and I went to the Judd Jog 5k in Winter Haven. It was a drive out there but we had others plans out there afterwards. We left early to make sure we got there in time to pick up our packet. We got there in plenty of time because I thought it started 30 minutes earlier than it actually did. There was plenty of parking & packet pickup was in the sheriffs department. They gave you your shirt & medals at that time if you registered by the cutoff date for medals. The medal was on the smaller side but again it was just a 5K and not a pricey race.
The weather was in the 60s which was great for running but it got a little warmer as the race went on. The start line had cones with approximate finish times where you could self-corral yourself. The course started in the parking lot, then around a lake and down the service road and back around. I was really surprised and happy that we didn’t have to double back & make the same loop twice. They had snack to include mandarin oranges which I loved. Vendors were giving away stuff & had adoptable dogs there from the Humane Society. Also a slurpy to purchase if you liked. Sherif Judd was there for photo ops as well. He looks smaller & older in person.
Overall, it was a nice but little race just wish the medal was on the bigger side.
